Who we are
Takumi Japan Cars helps buyers in Ireland, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and other right-hand-drive markets understand and arrange the import of used cars from Japan. We are the controller of the personal data described below. Our team works from Japan, which the European Commission recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection.
What we collect, and why

The legal basis is your consent (when you tick the box on a form or ask for an estimate), our legitimate interest in running and securing the site, and, if you buy from us, performing the contract with you. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who we share it with
- Our team, who read and reply to enquiries.
- The seller, if your enquiry is about a vehicle listed by a dealer or private seller: we pass them your email address and the estimate so they can respond.
- Service providers that run the site for us: our web host (Hostinger) and our DNS, CDN and security provider (Cloudflare), and the email service that delivers our messages. They process data only on our instructions.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The site stores one preference in your browser (your chosen display currency) so it can remember it on your next visit; it is not sent to us. Our fonts are hosted on this site, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts. Exchange rates are fetched by our server, not by your browser.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and estimate requests for as long as we need to reply and for up to 24 months after our last contact. If you buy a vehicle, we keep the records we need for the sale, shipping and legal obligations for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and similar laws elsewhere, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to our use of it, and to receive a copy of it. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Data Protection Commission in Ireland or the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, enquiries are stored in the site’s protected admin area, and access is limited to our team. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send us sensitive information such as payment card details by email or through the forms.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
